The Universe:
Contemporary Artists and the Cosmos

Jay Belloli, Curator

Gallery hours:
Wed+Sun, noon to 5pm;
Thu+Fri, 6:30 to 9pm

In an age of vast scientific exploration and rapid technological advancement, the Armory's exhibition offers a contemporary viewpoint of the relationship between science and art. The artworks inspired by the cosmos include paintings, drawings, photographs and installations by Kim Abeles, Vija Celmins, Carl Cheng, Linda Connor, Rockne Krebs, Robert Rauschenberg, Dorothea Rockburne, James Rosenquist, and Ed Ruscha. Cheng's and Kreb's installations have been specially commissioned for this exhibition. Krebs will create a monumental outdoor night laser installation connecting important locations within the city of Pasadena. Related performances, workshops and talks will offer an interdisciplinary study of the universe and of our attempts to understand our place within it. Free admission. Funding provided by Vicki Solaini Baker and Pasadena Art Alliance.
