FILMKatey Bright FILM '05 edited a film that is an official selection of the Newport Beach Film Festival, and had its World Premiere April 25. Vernon Mortensen FILM '00 has had his latest film, Chamaco, accepted to the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The gritty boxing drama starring Martin Sheen, Kirk Harris, Alex Perea and Michael Madsen also had a successful run at the Morelia International Film Festival in Morelia, Mexico. Mortensen served as co-executive producer of the film, which is to hit theaters in 2010. It was produced in association with Rogue Arts in Los Angeles, the same movie company that will be producing a new western, The Sorrow, a feature film written by Mortensen and slated to be directed by him this spring. Mortensen has also finished production on the first three episodes of the new horror/sci-fi Web series, Universal Dead, an apocalyptic zombie story starring DB Sweeney, Doug Jones, Gary Graham and Cade Courtley. Mortensen served as director and producer for the series. Previously, Mortensen was involved in a the hilariously funny web series The Crusader, starring Colin Cunningham, Matt Bradley and Gary Graham. Mortensen directed and produced the project. The entire eight episode series will be available on DVD in early 2010. Jesse Pomeroy FILM ’92 was named Best Feature Director at the Naperville Independent Film Festival in September. His film, World Full of Nothing, was screened at the festival and nominated for Best Feature Film and Best Actress as well. World Full of Nothing will be released on DVD this month.
