Toyota Lecture Series: Todd Oldham

A truly transdisciplinary designer, Todd Oldham’s portfolio includes environmental design, photography, graphic design, product design and film. Oldham is best known for his work with La-Z-Boy, Target, MTV and as host of Top Design on the Bravo television network. Oldham recently served as art director of Charley Harper—An Illustrated Life, the definitive monograph of artist Charley Harper, beloved for his delightful, graphic and often humorous illustrations of nature, animals, insects and people alike. During his lecture, Oldham will discuss both his own work and his collaboration with Harper in editing and designing the title, published by AMMO Books. Car Classic: Call for Volunteers

Members of the Art Center community are needed for a fantastic volunteer opportunity — Art Center Car Classic’07, “Dream Machines: Imaginations Gone Wild.” As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to see some of the finest cars in the world up close and personal. Car Classic will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers to work in fourhour shifts between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. The types of job responsibilities include event set-up, guest check-in, meeting and greeting guests, and break-down after the event. EcoCouncil’s Tune Up Bike Down

EcoCouncil is having a bike tune up day! Come out for a pleasant afternoon of grease, gears, tires, snacks and drinks! Learn the basics of bicycle maintenance, get your bike-related questions answered. Come join us even if you don't have a bike. Volunteers will be tuning your bike, fixing flats, making your bike what it once was before being put into storage. Later, join us for a leisurely ride around the Rose Bowl at 5:00 pm. Designmatters Congratulates Jonas Mayabb

The Designmatters PSA, "Fat Lane," which was licensed to Participant Productions last year in support of their film, Fast Food Nation, has just received the first place Young Directors Award at the Cannes Film Festival (Category: Non European Film School). Congratulations to Jonas on this exciting and well-deserved achievement.

College Archives: Staff History Project

All staff members are encouraged to supply the College Archives with your name, department, position title and the month and year you started at Art Center for each position held. This information will help the Archivist identify documents and photographs, and keep a more accurate record of the history of Art Center staff. SIX alumni making fine art Exhibition

The SIX exhibition organized by the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery features alumni of the College whose work has contributed substantially to the contemporary art practice. The featured artists are Sharon Lockhart (MFA ART ’93), Jennifer Steinkamp (MFAART ’91), Hiroshi Sugimoto (PHOT’74), Mark Tansey (FINE ’72), Charlie White (MFA ART ’98) and Pae White (MFAART ’91).

Students in their 5th through 7th terms, who are in good academic standing (2.5 cumulative GPA), are eligible to apply for internships arranged through the Office of Career Services. Internships provide practical "hands-on" professional work experience and may, in some instances, strengthen your potential for employment upon graduation. 9th Annual HOW Interactive Design Awards

The deadline for HOW's Interactive Design Awards is coming up. Websites, kiosks, CDs, DVDs, games and banner ads are all welcome entries. Best of Show winner's work will be featured in HOW's April 2008 Design Annual and the winner will also get a free trip to the 2008 HOW Design Conference.

PAVE Student Design Competition

PAVE’s 2007 Student Design Competition is sponsored by Sony Electronics Inc. This annual competition, now in its 13th year, is geared toward college-level students involved in retail planning, merchandising, and branding programs. Keep in mind that all entries will not be returned and winning entries will become property of the sponsor (Sony Electronics). Students are advised to keep a copy of their entries.
